Associate Engineer (A&D) Investment Banking

We are seeking an Associate Engineer (A&D) to join our Investment Banking group in Houston. The team advises upstream, midstream, and oilfield service clients across mergers and acquisitions (M&A), acquisitions and divestitures (A&D), and capital markets transactions.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide reservoir engineering and other technical analysis in support of the execution of M&A and A&D transactions for our clients
  • Develop technical and commercial models including generating type-curves inputs, producing volume forecasts, performing LOS analysis, reviewing plant statement/commercial assumptions, evaluating drilling inventory, etc.
  • Lead or assist with the coordination of executing mandates and external project meetings
  • Generate strategic content and presentation materials, including industry analysis and product-specific concepts, using both client and public data
  • Present complex ideas and analyses to internal and external parties
  • Support execution activities including due diligence, industry research and analysis, and management of data rooms
  • Assist with the development of new business activities

Specific Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a production/reservoir engineer (E&P operator; reserves consulting; energy investment banking, private equity or asset management)
  • BS or greater in petroleum engineering
  • Experience in technical evaluation of oil and gas assets across North American conventional and unconventional plays
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access) and industry economics software such as Aries and/or PHDWin
  • Familiarity with Enverus, ArcGIS/QGIS and other analytical software (e.g. Spotfire)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment in a deadline driven environment
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of cash flow and economic concepts
